Graphic design in ages past was once regarded as a side hustle – people viewed It as an extra source of income alongside their main jobs and only few creatives managed it as a primary source of livelihood! But Fast-forward to the 21st century and it’s a whole different ball game; everywhere good design has become so crucial to consumer perception thus highly in-demand that creatives now haul themselves into their craft full time and enjoy juicy returns.
As the need for jaw-dropping creatives continues to increase, designers now find it increasingly easier to earn high figures but have also discovered an irksome truth – earning money is one thing and management another.
Hence, the NGD management in recognition of this challenge recently announced a solution by way of its partnership with leading Fintech giant Vbank as its financial partner to members of the community.
Strategic Partnerships to improve quality
Since its management upgrade in 2021 the NGD community has armed itself with strategic partnerships geared towards providing support to members in areas their find daunting, in this case finance!
Probably due to the fact that the major tool used in producing artwork remains unpaid for (imagination), Creatives more than any other profession have the great tendency to ignore the financial aspect of their craft and unceasingly work out of love for the art.
Other times it isn’t the lack of high figures that daunts them – it could be how to repurpose earnings, best investment deals, money habits to avoid and the good ones to adopt. These factors in the long run, push highly paid designers into penury.
The Vbank collaboration nips such possibilities in the bud by playing an educationalist role to designers in the NGD community and exposing them to unique financial offerings for wealth creation along with motivating competitions sponsored by the financial institutition.

The partnership has already held live sessions with creatives.
The partnership officially announced on July 11 has already held live Facebook sessions on financial offerings like it’s, Veelage referral program, a commission which designers can take advantage of.
Apart from the educational aspect there is also the juicy inclusion of cash competitions such as the Vbank ATM card challenge which produced winners such as Chukwu Adaeze Victoria, Adams Bernard and so many others.
Delivering on its promise
Since bagging the keenly contested $50,000 Facebook community Accelerator award, NGD has made good on its promise to “seek innovative ways of delivering value” as stated by founder Laolu Obende.
In 2021 the group launched its official website ngdx.africa which elevated the community from a simple knowledge sharing platform to an authoritative marketplace for Nigerian creatives to collaborate, showcase portfolios, trade creative assets and ultimately meetup with customers internationally.

Its Partnership with vbank similar to its partnership with online education platform Domestika proves NGD commitment to diversifying the volume of products members can enjoy but what is more, it also testifies to the emerging need for Nigerian industries to break out of their isolationist stance and collaborate across board for impact maximization.
