Adeshina Owonifare: Updated wardrobe
“I had just completed a project for a political party—nothing too stressful—but the payment was twice my salary. (Looking back, I should have priced it even higher!) At that moment, I felt the happiest I had been in a long time.
I called my friend, who was on his way to the Island, and asked him to pick up some nice shirts, two pairs of moccasins for me, and some for himself too.”
AbdulBasit Morenikeji: Solar Inverter Set + iPad
“I bought a solar inverter system after a power outage nearly drove me insane.
Why? Convenience. I was sick at the time and couldn’t afford to wait in the long queues at the filling station—plus, they weren’t even selling to small businesses.
Another purchase was my iPad. When I first started, I remember asking a senior motion designer if I’d ever be able to afford one. He laughed and said, ‘Basit, with your work rate, I’d be surprised if you don’t buy it within a year.’
I didn’t get it in a year, but two years later, I finally bought the M2 12.9-inch version—paid in full! Omo, I was proud! 😂”
Chukwuemeka Uchenna: Laptop + Wacom Drawing Tablet
“Instead of spending my earnings on short-term wants, I decided to reinvest in my craft. I used the money to buy a new laptop and a drawing tablet—two essential tools that enhance my workflow, boost efficiency, and allow me to take on more complex projects.
The reason behind this investment is simple: growth. As a graphic designer, having the right tools is crucial for improving both creativity and productivity. A more powerful laptop ensures smoother performance, while the drawing tablet provides better precision and flexibility for digital art.
Shane: Studio Set x Laptop
I bought a Studio Set because of my love for sound and music production.
Reason? For convenience and fun. I have always been intrigued by sound and how it’s created and I have always wanted to upgrade my laptop to a MacBook, it took me a year of strict planning and sacrifice. The satisfaction I felt after I got the equipment I don’t think I quantify it. I was so proud of myself. 😅
